I managed to complete my documentary today! I have four days remaining until the deadline and so I’m very pleased that I managed to finish the editing with time to spare. I still have a few hundred words of my justification essay to write, but that won’t take me very long.
Making Under The Radar has been a very long, and at times tiring process, but I’ve enjoyed it immensely. As a music lover, I’m very concerned that the current digital transformation of the British music industry is seriously threatening some of our underground rock music scenes. The DIY, rock n’ roll ideology which has brought us some of our best musical exports seems untenable in an age where everyone sees the world through a phone screen and without the traditional major labels to sign up talent there may not be the finances around to sustain it. I’m glad I made this documentary, hopefully it shed some light on an issue which isn’t getting much coverage elsewhere. It’s been great fun talking to so many people involved with the industry and I’ve learned a lot along the way. This will be be my last blog post. My documentary will be uploaded to the homepage later tonight!
